According to our PM we must be closed for 3 weeks, even though our Covid protocols at work have been rigid, exemplary and successful. Some in the business have not been so careful and so the government believes that all should be penalized. Even though I work with one client at a time, with 30 minutes between one leaving and the next arriving, I must be denied my valuable income for 3 weeks.
But a retail shop having 4 and 5 customers at a time can continue to operate because it is not inside a mall. A doubles vendor is okay, but restaurant delivery or pick up is not.
Such logic is why Trinidad and Tobago remains firmly a Third World country.
To all my fellow citizens who have contributed to this latest surge in Covid infections because by all means you just had to lime, congregate, party and generally behave in a careless and irresponsible manner, grown adults who should know better, you are reaping what you sowed.
To the rest who are now tossed aside and told too bad you can’t work or police will lock you up, stay strong and safe. We can only hope for the best. 🙏🏻
